More than 8,000 “pinchos” of “botillo” sold during the first weekend of the event

The restaurateurs of Bembibre have reported a significant figure: during the first weekend of the Jornadas de Pinchos del Botillo have sold more than 8,000 pinchos made with the typical sausage, noting a significant increase over previous editions.

These figures, provided by the establishments themselves to the Sectorial Council of Commerce, chaired by the councilor Belén Martín Díaz, highlight the success of the event and its growing popularity.

The mayor has highlighted the economic impact of the Conference, taking into account that only the sales of snacks are above 8,000 euros, to which should be added “as many drinks. With this data, it is not surprising that the overall volume of sales is around 20,000 €.

Belén Martín also emphasized “the extraordinary movement of visitors, both local and foreign, who visited all the establishments during these two weekends”. It is for this reason that the days represent an unbeatable opportunity not only for the present economic benefit but also for the possibilities to attract new customers.

But beyond the strictly economic aspect, the “Jornadas de Pinchos del Botillo” have an important social value. Since they began in February 2011, their popularity and visits from all over the region have been growing year after year.

Involvement of the innkeepers

This year, the innkeepers have played a key role in the develoment of the criteria and, from the Department of Commerce, “we want to emphasize how successful their proposals have been, which we have not hesitated to incorporate in this edition”.

On the one hand, it was the restaurateurs themselves who proposed the retail price of the pincho according to the costs of preparation, allowing all of them for a unified price of 1 €. On the other hand, they proposed the idea of a popular jury, “which is becoming a resounding success that encourages the public to know all the gastronomic creations and participate with their vote in the election of the winning pincho,” said Martin Diaz.

There is a third new and no less important aspect to take into account: the jury will meet on February 8th after the end of the Jornadas de Pinchos del Botillo and not as it was done before which was between the two weekends of activity.
