“El onírico entomólogo”, by Javier Abelardo González Quintana from Palencia, receives the award for the literary contest of Botillo

The Jury of the Literary Contest of the National Festival of Botillo Exaltation in Bembibre, which met extraordinarily last Friday, has chosen the story “El onírico entomólogo”, by Javier Abelardo González Quintana (Palencia, 1969), as the winner of this edition.

González Quintana is a member of the Body of Procedural Management of the Judiciary Administration, serving as Legal Counsel at the Court of Cártama, province of Málaga.

He is the author of the novels “El gordo” (Finalist in the II International Novel Prize Emilio Alarcos Llorach 2002, Oviedo), “Voces de otra tumba” (Editorial Quadrivium, 2009, Girona), “Tras un muro” (Finalist in the Onuba Novel Prize 2010, Huelva), and “El premio satélite” (Finalist in the XVI Encina de Plata Short Novel Prize 2022, Navalmoral de la Mata, Cáceres).

He has been a winner in various literary contests and narrative competitions in many different parts of Spain, as well as a finalist in many other literary prizes and competitions.

As a poet, he has contributed to several anthologies published both in Spain and Latin America.

Although born in Palencia, he is currently residing in Málaga, and he declares himself a great connoisseur of botillo. Due to the short notice of his designation as the winner, he won’t be able to join us at the exaltation gala this Saturday.

It’s important to note that the prize for the literary contest of the National Festival of Botillo Exaltation is 1,000 euros.
