First Botillo Festival in Cape Verde
In 2005, the Municipal Corporation took Botillo to Cape Verde to celebrate a Botillo festival, within the framework of the twinning protocol with Sao Domingos.
Beyond the institutional events, one of the objectives was to symbolically organize the first International Botillo Festival.
The festival was held on November 25th, 2005 on the first day of visiting the canteen area of the Chamber of Sao Domingos itself. The botillos, loaned by Embutidos El Arco, were cooked by the former municipal spokesman, Esteban Carro.
Although everyone at the table expressed their intention to repeat the experience, it finally stayed in a first experience to seek an internationalization of the festival. It would be necessary to repeat with other events abroad to strengthen the international relevance of the festival.
However, this was the first International Botillo Festival organised by Bembibre’s council.
