The XLIX National Festival of Exaltation of Botillo de Bembibre moves to March 19

The growing number of cases of Covid-19 at the beginning of the year and the consequent worsening of the pandemic situation has made us rethink the celebration of the XLIX National Festival of Exaltation of Botillo, initially scheduled for next February 19. We understand that it is not prudent to think that within a month Bembibre will be able to host an event of this magnitude, despite the fact that the City Council already began the processing and contracting of the different services in September of last year. Given this situation, and once we have spoken with the different supply companies, we have agreed that the National Botillo Exaltation Festival will be moved for one month, to exactly March 19, 2022.

Faced with exceptional situations, we have been forced to adopt exceptional measures. Last year we had to agree, for the first time in its history, to suspend the event and, on this occasion, to change the date. This time it will not follow the formula that we have followed since 1975, always two weeks before the Bembibre piñata Saturday. By looking for a relevant event, it will coincide with Father’s Day.

The most important thing right now is to act with the utmost responsibility. We trust that the evolution of infections will confirm the downward trend that is beginning to be glimpsed. In the event of a significant change, we will inform you as soon as possible about the possible modifications that affect our gastronomic event par excellence.

The different events that accompany the National Festival of Exaltation of the Botillo are also moved for a month: the Agrifood Fair during the weekend of the Festival; the cultural week during the previous days; or the Pinchos del Botillo contest, whose machinery we will start up imminently.

In the near future we will offer more information regarding both the poster that will illustrate the Festival and the sale of tickets and the complete program of the Botillo and all the events and activities that accompany it.
