The Bembibre City Council encourages participation in the XII Jornadas de Pinchos del Botillo (Pinchos Days)
Next Friday, January 20, restaurateurs who so wish may formalize their registration in the Jornadas de Pinchos del Botillo (Pinchos Days), which include the characteristic Pinchos Contest to recognize the best creations made with the typical sausage from Berciano. This twelfth edition has as novelties the economic contribution of 100 euros to support the participants and the suppression of the requirement of ornamentation of the premises.
The XII Pinhos Days will take place on the 3rd, 4th and 5th and 10th, 11th and 12th of February, coinciding with the previous weekend and the same weekend of the National Festival of Exaltation of the Botillo. The contest will take place during the first weekend.
Registration, which will be free for those interested, will remain open from January 20 to 27, on the second floor of the Bembibre Town Hall (Araceli).
The main novelty of this edition is the economic support to the participants with 100 euros, which means meeting the request of the restaurateurs due to the high price of the botillos that they must purchase. The Bembibre City Council, through the Sectoral Council of Commerce, will deliver this amount in cash after the decision of the contest and provided that all the bases have been complied with.
Another novelty is that the obligation to decorate the premises is abolished. However, the jury will value the ornamentation with an additional point in its final grade.
The establishments must have at least one skewer derived from the botillo, duly identified with its name, which will be the one that will enter the competition. They will charge it during the Conference at the fixed price of 50 cents (0.50 euros). In this edition, an alternative skewer is not required.
It must be remembered that the decision to charge this 50-cent supplement was agreed upon three years ago with the intention of unifying criteria that would allow for a fixed price and not a variable one at the discretion of each establishment.
