Bembibre will celebrate its National Festival for the Exaltation of Botillo next year, after being cancelled last February due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Bembibre Town Council launched in August its calling for public tenders in order to arrange the catering services, decoration and supply for marquees, anticipating that the health emergency would maintain a positive evolution, as it happened.
“Two months ago we decided to celebrate Cristo festivities thanks to the improvement of the epidemic indicators” said the Culture Councilor, Belén Martín Díaz. “Today, the situation is not only better than in August, but the vaccinated population over 12 years old is higher than 90%, ” she said.
“All this makes us think that we are on the right track, and that an event as important as our Botillo Festival can be held in 2022”.
However, just as it happened with Cristo festivities, if the health situation worsens and new restrictions are decreed, “this City Council would act accordingly as it has done since the beginning of the pandemic.”
The XLIX Bembibre’s National Festival for the Exaltation of Botillo will take place on February 19th, 2022. The Festival gala will feature a presentation speech by the chairperson and musical performance -which will be announced in the near future. The gastronomic event will take place in the Manuel Marqués Patarita pavilion, which will be reconditioned for this purpose.
Although it is still early to plan the distribution of the dining room and its capacity, “we are going to guarantee all the safety measures needed and established by the Health Authorities.”
Likewise, the Municipal Party Board continues to work on the preparation of the festival program with activities that will take place during the cultural week, “with the desire to make it as attractive as possible,” added Martín Díaz. Not in vain, “the special health circumstances that we have suffered during the last year and a half makes The XLIX Bembibre’s National Festival for the Exaltation of Botillo of special relevance,” She stated.
