Manuel Fraga Iribarne was the star of the fifth edition of Bembibre’s Botillo Festival. According to the Historical Memory of Bembibre’s Botillo Festival, written by Manuel Olano, who wrote: “despite the fact that all eyes were on his speech, he fled from politics to praise Botillo and extolling the good use of pork meat.” In addition, highlighting the agreement of a celebration that has achieved having almost a thousand people at the table to socialize and forget about daily worries.

Fraga was lecturer of Political Law and Theory of the State and Constitutional Law, a doctorate in Law and a degree in Political and Economic Sciences. His political career dates back to the 50s with great positions of institutional relevance. He was Minister of Tourism Information between 1962 – 1969 and Vice President of the Government and Minister for Internal Affairs between December 1975 and July 1976.

A year before chairing Bembibre’s Botillo Festival, he founded the political party Alianza Popular.
