The journalist and broadcaster Luis del Olmo was chairman of Bembibre’s Botillo Festival on February 27th, 1982. After nine years at the Dancing Club room, he would be the first chairman of the festival in the new venue at the New Brothers restaurant.
He started studding mining engineering, although his passion had always been broadcasting. His first appearances on the radio was as a teenager in Radio Juventud. At the beginning of the 60s, he earned a state position that granted him the opportunity to work in Radio Nacional de España with programs such as ‘Entre amigos’, ‘A toda radio’, ‘Crónica 2.000’ and ‘De Doce a Doce’. In 1973 he became the morning star of the program ‘Protagonistas’, which at first was called ‘Protagonistas, from coast to coast’.
He turned the program into the most successful radio broadcasting space for radio in Spain.
Luis del Olmo received in 1971 the Ondas award in the Radio Venues category.
