Francisco Javier Delgado Barrio (Barbastro, Huesca, October 21th, 1932) is a Spanish jurist who became president of the Spanish Supreme Court and the General Council of the Spanish judicial authority in 1996. He is an expert on the jurisdiction of the administrative courts.
for his openness and willingness to engage in dialogue, he managed to be unanimously elected president of the Spanish Supreme Court and the General Council of the Spanish judicial authority. With a conservative spirit, he considered a priority to strengthen the judiciary’s independence as well as streamline the system of administration of justice.
His election as president of the General Council of the Spanish judicial authority, at the age of 63, took place unanimously. It was the first time in history when the twenty leader members of administration of justice decided at once.
