Álvaro Caboalles, an actor from Ponferrada, played the role of the Romantic writer Enrique Gil y Carrasco in Bembibre’s Botillo Festival in 2015. This edition wanted to commemorate the bicentennial of the author’s birth. An event that left to the character the role of being the mantenedor of this edition. This change in format was a way of paying tribute to the author of the great work of Universal Literature “El Señor de Bembibre” (The Lord of Bembibre).

Although he died young, at the age of 30, his bound with the region lasts over time thanks to his work. Especially in Villafranca where he was born and Bembibre where he set his most important historical novel.

It is not usual to have a posthumous mantenedor played by an actor, but there is always room for originality. An event like this always looks for the most outstanding Mantenedores to join the party.
