The writer and journalist Emilio Romero Gómez was mantenedor of Bembibre’s National Festival for the Exaltation of Botillo on its XV edition. He was born in Arévalo, Ávila, in 1917. Very active in politics and taking part.

He was one of the most representative Spanish journalists during Franco’s government.

He founded the newspaper El Imparcial, as well as directed the newspapers La Mañana, Información, and Pueblo. Latter on he remained in charge of them for more than 20 years. In addition, he worked too for the newspapers El País, Ya, ABC or El Periódico de Catalunya, and in the weekly erotic magazine Interviú.

As writer he played with different types of books and stories. He created 15 original theatre plays.
