Alfonso Ussía was chairman in the XXX Bembibre’s Botillo Festival, which was held on February 2nd, 2002. Linked with El Bierzo thanks to his family (specifically, with the city of Ponferrada), this writer and journalist from Madrid began to emerge very young. Actually almost learned to read self-taught.
His first job was in the Documentation Service of the newspaper Informaciones, with Jesús de la Serna as director and deputy director Juan Luis Cebrián. His first article would soon be published in the magazine Sábado Gráfico. Later, and as a result of other publications in the magazine, supported by Eugenio Suárez, Torcuato Luca de Tena offered him a job at the newspaper ABC.
He also worked for the newspapers Diario 16 and Ya. He has been an opinion columnist, also working at the radio and television. In addition, he was the creator of the tv series El marqués de Sotoancho (2000) and Puerta con puerta (1999).
